George Steinbrenner to Attend Game 1 of World Series
The 79-year old owner will fly to New York from his home in Tampa to watch his team open up the World Series.
MLB.com reports New York Yankees owner George Steinbrenner will attend Game 1 of the World series between the Yankees and the Philadelphia Phillies. Steinbrenner, 79, watched Game 6 of the 2009 ALCS between the Yankees and Los Angeles Angels at his home in Tampa, Fla.
According to The Star-Ledger - NJ.com, Steinbrenner issued a statement Monday regarding his team's return to the World Series:
"The Yankees' enormous will to win, tremendous professionalism and great team spirit, backed by the best, most vocal and supportive fans have propelled us into the World Series. We're looking forward to our 27th ring."
