G.I. Joe Movie: A Bore

G.I. Joe is a no go!

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra is the typical bad guys versus good guys. There are explosions, metal machines and American flags. The movie was directed by Stephen Sommers who also directed the "Mummy" franchise.

The interesting thing about the movie, according to the Chicago Tribune, is that this is the first big-budget movie this year to be kept secret. There was no Hollywood premiere or major media junket. They could have fed a small country with the $180 million price tag it cost. To quote the New York Times, "this pricey, juiceless pulp could never have been killed by critics, simply because it was already dead."

According to the Washington Post, the plot contains G.I. Joes encountering an evil weapons dealer and a mad scientist. Nanobots, a funny black guy, some romance, two ninjas that fight each other, and a girl brainwashed into becoming a killing machine.

The movie is a "mindless summer blockbuster," according to Seacoastonline.com. It may be entertaining for some but the shallowness will not get others enjoying it.
