Giants Stadium Goes Down, Bruce Springsteen Stays Up

Approaching 60, working harder.

Bruce Springsteen will be the closing act before Giants Stadium is demolished. The stadium will be demolished after the 2009 football season. According to the Associated Press, he has sold out 16 concerts at Giants Stadium. The first show at Giants Stadium for Bruce Springsteen and his E Street Band will take place right after his 60th birthday on September 30, according to Nj.com. At 60, Springsteen seems to be working harder. He has released five studio albums in this decade, more than any other decade.

Last night, Springsteen and his band played East Rutherford, N.J.'s Izod Center which, according to Simon Vozick-Levinson of Entertainment Weekly, was "one of the most reliably awesome live music experiences in the world." As a surprise, the E Street Band's new sit in drummer, 18-year-old Jay Weinberg, filled in for his dad, Max Weinberg, as Max prepares to lead the house band for Conan O'Brien's Tonight Show.

The real trouble is for average people hoping to see Springsteen. Of the 38,000 seats available for the two nights he played at the Izod Center this week, only 6,000 were sold through Ticketmaster. Springsteen has taken less breaks between tours and recording than he ever has in his career, maybe trying to prove to us and himself that he is still "the boss."
