Giuliani Backed by Founder of Christian Broadcasting Network
The influence of a pact with Pat Robertson could be tremendous in reassuring Republican voters who have been wary of presidential candidate Rudolph Giuliani's support of abortion rights. While Robertson gave no take on Giuliani's abortion support, he said that the Republican candidate had, "...assured the American people that his choices for judicial appointments will be men and women who share the judicial philosophy of John Roberts and Antonin Scalia (arguers against the Roe v. Wade abortion rights ruling)." Also, Robertson's status as founder and chairman of the Christian Broadcasting Network, and host of The 700 Club is hoped to further boost Giuliani. The support could not have come at a better time, as a coalition of prominent Christian conservatives is threatening to back a third party candidate if Giuliani becomes the Republican Party's presidential nominee.
