GLAAD Issues Final Statement On Lambert

On Friday, GLAAD's president issued a statement that validated their support for Lambert.

After two confusing statements, GLAAD (Gay&Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) has finally gotten their point across in regard to the ABC vs. Adam Lambert debacle. What is the final verdict? Turns out they are indeed on Lambert's side.

On Friday, GLAAD President Jarrett Barrios asserted his group's stance.

"Giving ABC the opportunity to explain themselves is important, but it's also important for us to be clear about what our position is. And that is that we believe that Adam Lambert is being subjected to a double standard because he's an openly gay entertainer," Barrios explained to the Los Angeles Times.

Reporters from the paper called Barrios after his third statement still left room for some misunderstanding.

The first statement that GLAAD issued was radically different from what they said before.

"It would appear that the kiss between Adam Lambert and his keyboardist did not factor into ABC's decision," GLAAD said in reference to ABC canceling Lambert's upcoming performances on "Good Morning America" and "Jimmy Kimmel Live."

The second statement focused on what GLAAD would like to see ABC do about the situation.

"ABC confirmed this is not about a same-sex-kiss or his sexual orientation but about being ‘caught off guard.' GLAAD asked ABC and calls on them for clarification of ‘caught off guard' so that the community knows why Lambert is being denied the opportunity to perform on the network."

Now GLAAD is abandoning both the sentiment that ABC is not discriminating against Lambert and the desire that ABC clarify its stance. The third statement released also expressed a desire for viewers to speak up against ABC.

With news that Lambert will perform on "The View," reported in an update by E! Online viewers may have less to complain about. Next Tuesday, Lambert will give a performance on the popular talk show.
