Now those Glee kids really have something to sing about.
The Fox musical comedy series was bestowed with the prestigious Peabody Award Wednesday.
Glee was one of 36 winners announced by the University of Georgia’s Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication during a campus ceremony, says The Hollywood Reporter.
The Peabody Awards honor the year’s best in electronic communication.
Other Peabody recipients were ABC’s Modern Family, HBO’s Gabriel Byrne therapy drama In Treatment, and The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency. Craig Ferguson from The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson also nabbed an award for his show’s Desmond Tutu episode.
THR reports the Peabody board described the late night gig as “a talk show without borders.”
PBS, BBC, NPR, and Sesame Street were also among the list of honorees.
THR reports Director of the Peabody Awards Horace Newcomb said:
"Every year the Peabody Board faces the daunting task of selecting examples of the most outstanding work in electronic media. Our work is made more difficult because every entry is selected by a producer, a studio, a network or cable channel as their best work of the previous year. We begin at the top and have to go even higher."
The Peabody board comprises 16 industry experts who get input from UGA staff and students.
