Glee Season 1, Episode 4
This week, in "Glee's" fourth episode, entitled "Preggers," the theme is breaking out of your comfort zone and there really is not any larger example of breaking out of that zone than getting pregnant.
Sadly, or maybe luckily, it is not Terri who is getting pregnant this week. Instead, surprisingly considered she is the president of the Celibacy Club, cheerleader/Glee mole Quinn is pregnant. And she makes gullible Finn believes he's the father despite the fact that they've never had sex. She convinces him saying that it was due to a premature incident in a hot tub. The real father is Puck, Finn's best friend, via a drunken hook-up.
Meanwhile, Terri offers to take Quinn's baby while still faking her own pregnancy. It's official, she's gone insane, and how hilarious it is.
Yet the main plot revolves around Kurt. His dad catches him, Tina, and Mole #3 rehearsing Beyonce's "Single Ladies" dance in black leotards (Kurt once again proving his fabulousness by wearing a sequined glove).
Caught in the act, Tina and Mole #3 quickly fibs that the outfit is for football practice, which prompts Kurt to try out for the football team as a kicker. And it is the single most amazing football try-out/audition in the history of football try-outs (hint: it's set to "Single Ladies") with the most amazing quote "My body is like a rum-chocolate soufflé, if I don't warm it up right, it doesn't rise." Let it sink in for a moment.
Inspired by Kurt's sassy moves, Finn convinces Coach Tanaka to have the entire football team dance the "Single Ladies," the team starts winning the game. And it also prompts three football players, including Puck, to join Glee, giving them the 12 people they need to qualify for Regionals.
And Kurt finally comes out to his dad, who is surprisingly supportive about it. Family hugging moment ensues and hopefully, Kurt can now devote his time to finding a boyfriend.
In other news, Rachel needs to learn to be humble because her overt cockiness and prima-donna attitude is starting to really grate. After leaving in a huff because Will gives the solo of "Tonight" from "West Side Story" to Tina, who sings it beautifully, she quits Glee Club and decides to take the lead in a school production of "Cabaret."
Heading up that play is (pedophile teacher) Sandy, who is rehired by Principal Figgins via blackmail by Sue. Sandy becomes the school's art director and teams up with Sue to break apart Glee Club. And at the end of the episode, it seems like it might work with Rachel's estrangement.
Meanwhile, Sue receives her own segment on the local news and delivers her own brand of positive advice, such as "there's not much difference between a crowd of cheering fans and a stadium shouting abuse at you
it's just a lot of noise." Word Sue, word.
