A Glimpse at Potential Re-release of 'Avatar'
It has broken all world records, has been claimed to change the face of film as we know it, and is now officially the no. 1 grossing film in all history. Therefore, it certainly was surprising when director James Cameron revealed that Avatar may be re-released in both IMAX and digital theaters at the end of the summer.
After receiving box office receipts that would suggest that nearly the entire world has seen the film, many suspect that Cameron has something special planned with this potential re-release. According to CBC News, 12 extra minutes worth of film will be added to the film’s original theatrical release.
The article also reports that these bonus scenes could possibly feature a Na’vi-style party and further scenes of Jake’s (Sam Worthington) training in order to be officially welcomed into the village.
One of the main reasons Avatar is looking to be re-released is because the film was removed from all IMAX theaters upon the release of Tim Burton’s long-awaited Alice in Wonderland.
