Golden Globe nominee Nikki Blonsky takes summer job at shoe boutique

Hairspray star Nikki Blonsky has taken up an ordinary summer job at a shoe boutique in her hometown of Great Neck, New York.

Blonsky received a Golden Globe nod for her work as Tracy Turnblad in the film adaptation of the musical in 2007, working alongside Hollywood heavy hitters such as John Travolta.

However, the 22-year-old has taken the job at the Steven Dann boutique "as a fun thing for the summer” for three or three days a week, the owner, Steven Dann, told People.

A source told E! Online, "Steven says she's one of the best employees he's ever had!" adding, "Nikki had known Steven for a long time. When she started her career she got shoes, bags, and accessories from the store for red carpets but recently approached him about working at the store."

The source adds that costumers usually ask the actress what she’s doing there, prompting the usual dialogue of, "Are you shopping?” to which she laughs and says, "No, I'm working!"

Blonsky even entertains the kids when they come in, as the source explains, "She even sings and dances for the customers, busting out the tunes from Hairspray!"
