The Good Wife is an American legal drama following a wife trying to create a new life after her politician; husband has been jailed for a corruption/sex scandal.

Here is a show that starts out right at the time of the explosion. A media storm where Cook County State's Attorney Peter Florrick (Chris Noth) is at microphones admitting to reports he slept with prostitutes while the wife, Alicia Florrick (Julianna Margulies), stands by his side. But don't think she is going to take this humiliation. In the moments they leave the press Alicia gives him the slap heard around the world and walks away.

Six months later Alicia is trying her hands at her former job, as a defense attorney and sits in the wrong conference room of a major Chicago law firm. In the mad dash to make it to the right room she misses her first staff meeting. She is handed a pro bono case of a woman accused of killing her husband.

The case is Alicia's mentor Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski) former case. As a mentor Diane gives her wisdom by turning to a photo of herself with Hillary and encourages, "If she can do it, you can." Alicia is paired with the firm's sexy investigator, Kalinda to help poke holes in the case to get her client off of the murder charge.

Ever present in the background of the show is her past. Every time she seems to rise up against odds at work she is pulled down by her husband's talks of the possibility the appellate court will overturn the charge of abuse of office. In jail he sings with every breath that everything will go back to normal. But she stands and says nothing will ever be normal again.

Alicia's nagging mother-in-law helps with the two children, Grace and Zach. How do she do it all? Well with the good advice to her client the audience is able to see without having it spelled out. Alicia tells her client to make an effort in the morning with makeup and nice cloths. When the client ask if it gets easier, Alicia responds, "No, but you do get better at it."

With the victory of Alicia's innocent client being set free and her promotion to second chair in a top case the episode concludes with a voicemail from Peter. The court will hear his appeal and he is sure he will be released. But what will happen to Alicia and her new life?
