Gossip Girl's Leighton Meester Shows How to Wear Gladiator Heels

Caged and gladiator sandals have been the staple women’s footwear this summer, but the heel-versions of the same style are filling in their relative’s strappy shoes this fall.

The just-the-right-amount-of-bondage sandals perfectly set off skinny jeans, mini skirts and summer dresses, but attention-grabbing gladiator heels are a little harder to dress. Leighton Meester was recently seen wearing this pair of gladiator wedges on the set of “Gossip Girl” in a way that’s perfect for early fall.

Meester’s character on the show Blair Waldorf prefers pencil skirts, tweed and preppy headbands. However, it looks as if this free-spirited look is borrowed from Blake Lively’s character and Blair counterpart Serena van der Woodsen.

Even if the actress-singer didn’t put this look together it’s perfectly executed as the conservative, loose blue top balances out the structured shoe while the tailored shorts keep it from looking too sloppy.

But one mustn’t look good in short shorts to mimic Meester’s look. A pair of shorts that hit above the knee with a clean or cuffed hem will also do the trick with a loose top and gladiator heels.

These shoes won’t be in style forever so have fun with them while you still can.
