Gracie Is A Shue Collaboration
Elisabeth and Andrew Shue make a movie about their home town.
Elisabeth Shue and her new movie Gracie were both born in South Orange, NJ, a town that provided much of the background for both Elisabeth and her brother Andrew's childhoods, and for the film itself.
Gracie, about a girl who wanted to play soccer on an all-boys team, was inspired by William Shue, their brother, who died in 1988. The three siblings--Elisabeth, Andrew, and their brother John who helped to fund the film, created the movie, based loosely on Elisabeth's own life, for their brother.
"It is a personal film, and the memories in it are a little bit sacred to us. But it was a family decision, and it is important for us to tell the story," Andrew Shue said. The film will premiere on Tuesday.
