The Grammy Awards Are in Jeopardy

This may be the day the music died.

The Grammy Awards may become another casualty of the Writers Guild of America's union strike. The Grammy telecast was to celebrate its 50th anniversary this February, but amidst the confusion, it may be unlikely.

USA Today stated that the show's producers requested a provisional waiver from the WGA, despite a Guild statement declaring a waiver unlikely. Although the Grammy Awards are heavily reliant on live performances, CBS, which is slated to host the awards show, has not yet reached an agreement with its writers.

Should musicians refuse to cross picket lines, the Grammy Awards may find its fate similar to that of this year's Golden Globes.

Nevertheless, Grammy producers remain optimistic amidst the uncertainty. If what Recording Academy President Neil Portnow believes is true, then the Grammys will go on, no matter the circumstance.
