Grammy Experts Expect Taylor Swift to Win Big

Grammy experts predict that Taylor Swift will take home many awards on Sunday night.

The top three categories at the Grammys are the Best Album, Best Record, and Best Song, and the 15 nominations between the three categories are spread over only seven artists.

The artists that have the most nominations are Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, and Lady Gaga, who have a combined total of 23 nominations. All three of those artists are nominated in the top three categories.

For Album of the Year, the nominees are Taylor Swift’s Fearless, Beyonce’s I Am…Sasha Fierce, Lady Gaga’s The Fame, Dave Matthews Band’s Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King, and Black Eyed Peas’ The E.N.D.

Swift has won almost every major award in 2009, and Grammy experts believe that she will take home this award as well. Ann Powers, the pop critic for the L.A. Times said, “Taylor Swift ‘saved’ the music industry this year. Beyoncé will get the middle-ground vote; Gaga’s rocket-rise happened too late to push her ahead of her rivals here. Nobody thinks of the Peas as album artists, and who put that Dave Matthews Band album in here anyway? It’s fine, but no ground-breaker.”

Swift, Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, and Black Eyed Peas are also nominated for Record of the Year, along with Kings of Leon, but many music experts believe Swift will take home this award also because of her cross-over country pop hit, “You Belong with Me.”

The nominees for Song of the Year are “You Belong with Me” by Taylor Swift, “Use Somebody” by Kings of Leon, “Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)” by Beyoncé, “Poker Face” by Lady Gaga, and “Pretty Wings” by Maxwell. Grammy experts are more torn for this category between Swift and Beyoncé, but they still believe that she will take home this third award.
