Green Day Musical
The boys of multi-platinum, Grammy award-winning, pop-rock trio Green Day can add something else to their resumea musical, inspired by their American Idiot album. According to MSNBC.com, the rockers will have their musical in their hometown, at the Berkeley Repertory Theatre.
The trio has collaborated with Michael Mayer, the director best known for his Tony award-winning musical, Spring Awakening.
"We'd been thinking of bringing 'American Idiot' to the stage, but knew we needed to find the right partners. After meeting with Michael to discuss the possibility, he invited us to see 'Spring Awakening.' We were so impressed with that production, as well as his vision for 'American Idiot,' that we knew we'd found the perfect collaborator," front man Billie Joe Armstrong said.
The show will seemingly take place everywhere from the Middle East to the Big Apple, following its working-class characters. It will run from Sept. 4 through Oct. 11, and will open Berkeley Repertory's 2009-2010 season.
