Grey's Anatomy Star Pregnant with First Child

Looks like there's another baby on the way at Seattle Grace hospital, but this time it won't be an on-screen delivery. Ellen Pompeo, 39, and husband, Chris Ivery, 41, are expecting their first child, according to People.com.

Pompeo's publicist, Jennifer Allen, confirmed the news, telling reporters that the couple are "ecstatic." The couple were married in November 2007 during a low-key ceremony presided over by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

The couple met in a grocery store in 2003 and started dating six months later, subsequently discovering that they had grown up a mere 10 miles away from each other outside of Boston. "I had to go 3,000 miles away to meet a guy who practically grew up next door," Pompeo told the Boston Herald in a 2005 interview. "But I guess everything comes full circle."

Ivery is a music producer, while Pompeo currently stars as Dr. Meredith Grey on the ABC medical drama, Grey's Anatomy. Pompeo's co-star, Chyler Leigh, who plays Meredith's younger sister, Lexie, is expecting her third child in May with husband, Nathan West.
