'Grimm': My What Big Teeth You have

Amanda Johnson

The season premiere of Grimm starts with a young woman heading out for a jog in the local park. While running through the woods, she is suddenly attacked by an unseen figure. Nick, the main character, and Hank, his partner, are seen outside of a jewelry store talking about a woman nearby. Suddenly her appearance becomes monstrous. Back to the woods the police are called in where pieces of the woman’s body from earlier and shreds of her red jacket have been found. The only track found is that of a boot print. Before leaving the scene, Nick hears music in the distance that is coming from the iPod the woman dropped.

We see a woman driving with a trailer attached to her car. She stops at home and gets out, glancing in the window. Nick comes home to find the woman, Aunt Marie, sitting in his dining room with his fiancée. They walk and talk as she asks him about his visions. She says that it has to do with their family history. Marie sees someone in the distance before they are violently attack. The creature attacks them with a scythe but Nick manages to kill him as he becomes human again. The injured Marie gives Nick her necklace telling him he must guard it.

While in the waiting room of the hospital, Nick sketches out the creature. Marie tells him that the visions allow their family to see people as they really are. She tells him that he is one of the last Grimms. Walking away, holding the necklace, he opens it to find a key. Nick awakens after a nightmare and goes to look around Marie’s trailer. He finds an open book full of drawings and notes. One is of the creatures in the book called a Hexenbiest, reminds Nick of the woman near the jewelry store.

Aunt Marie falls into a coma. Nick and Hank are called to the home of a little girl named Robin. She has gone missing. They find that the girl and the dead woman were both wearing red jackets. Following the path they think the girl would have taken, Nick and Hank find the girls backpack and a boot print. The path lets out on the other side of the neighborhood. Nick watches a man checking his mail. He turns to watch two little girls ride their bikes past and becomes beastly as he does. Monroe, the suspect, is chased into his home by Nick. Monroe’s house is searched but to no avail. The book in Marie’s trailer reveals a picture of Monroe’s true form. Nick starts to spy on the man. Monroe pounces on Nick but ultimately invites him in for a beer. He acknowledges that he knows what Nick is. Monroe tells Nick that he’s a reformed Bultbad, Big bad wolf. Nick tells him that the girl is still missing and demands his help.

The real criminal pulls into a wooded area atacking the girl from his car. He hides the girl taking her red coat to hang up with a collection of others. Nick and Monroe track the other Bultbad into the woods. They must use wolfsban so that they won’t be sensed. Monroe is forces to retreat for fear that he may not be able to control himself. Nick calls on Hank leading him to the house. They venture to the house and the suspected Bultbad invites them in to talk. They are permitted to search the house, but they come up empty. Before they leave Hank notices that the man is humming the song from the woman’s iPod. A struggle ensues and the man tries to run. Hank kills him. They go in to search of Robin. Nick finds the trap door and Robin alive. Nicks goes back to the hospital to talk to the comatosed Marie. A woman comes in, presumably a nurse and starts to draw a green liquid out of a vial. Nick stops her, noticing that it’s the Hexenbiest. She pricks him, escaping, and Nick passes out. The show ends with Marie’s awakening.
