Gunman Opens Fire at Colorado Church

On Sunday afternoon, a man opened fire on worshippers outside of a Colorado Springs megachurch.

After a late morning service at New Life Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado, a man armed with a rifle allegedly shot and wounded between three to five people, according to police. The victims have all been taken to local hospitals. Police spokesman Lt. Fletcher said that he could confirm no fatalities. He also stated that the suspect is in custody, however, police do not yet know the motive for the attack, nor the relationship between the suspect and the victims.

According to CNN, the shooting at the New Life Church came approximately 12 hours after a shooting at a missionary training center outside of Denver and 70 miles away from Colorado Springs. This shooting left two people dead and another two wounded. So far there has been no connection between the two incidents.

Reuters reports that the New Life Church, comprised of 14,000 members, was founded by pastor Ted Haggard, who resigned in 2006 after admitting to sexually immoral conduct.
