The Guns Fire Back at Lil' Kim
The perjury trial of Kimberly Jones, a.k.a. Lil' Kim, was fired up when her associate took the stand on March 2nd. After being granted immunity from prosecution, Suif Jackson admitted under oath that he had engaged in a machine gun battle outside a Manhattan radio station in 2001. Jackson also said that he was with Lil' Kim on the day of the shooting. Damion Butler, her former manager, has also pleaded guilty to using weapons in the battle that left one person injured.
Lil' Kim, 29, originally testified that she did not know Jackson at the time of the incident, but Jackson has said that the two have known each other for about ten years. Jackson appeared in court because he was subpoenaed.
Prosecutors say that Lil' Kim also said that Butler was not present at the shootout between her entourage and rival rapper Kiam "Capone" Holley's crew.
The charges against the Grammy winner include one count of conspiracy, three counts of perjury and three counts of making false statements, each of which can get her up to five years in prison. She is also charged with one count of obstruction with a maximum sentence of ten years.
