Guns N' Roses Album to Be Released with a Bang

Fans anticipate long-awaited "Chinese Democracy."

After a 17-year hiatus, legendary rock band Guns N' Roses will release their anticipated album, Chinese Democracy, which hits stores Saturday, Nov. 23.

The CD was set for release in 1995, and has been delayed repeatedly ever since, according to N.Y. Daily News. It contains 14 tracks totaling 72 minutes, and is full of distorted guitars interspersed with the signature wailing of lead singer Axl Rose, reported Reuters. Rolling Stone remarked that Chinese Democracy is "audacious, unhinged and uncompromising," and Blender Magazine's editor-in-chief, Joe Levy, called it "a remarkable moment in popular culture," describing the ballads as "killer."

Rose, 46, is now the only member of the band, having driven out bandmates with his volatile behavior. Thus, some commentators have said Chinese Democracy is more of an Axl Rose project instead of a Guns N' Roses project (Reuters).

The cost of the project is estimated to be over $13 million. Electronic retailer Best Buy will release the album exclusively in the U.S., pricing it at $11.99 (Reuters).
