Guns N' Roses Faces Lawsuit

Guns N' Roses is being sued for sampling tracks without permission for their album Chinese Democracy.

Guns N' Roses faces a $1 million lawsuit from two record companies that claim the group illegally sampled two tracks off of German musican Ulrich Schnauss' album for their Chinese Democracy CD.

Schnauss' record labels, Independiente and Domino Records USA, say that the Guns N' Roses song "Riad N'the Bedouins" borrowed music from two of the German electronic musician's compositions. Guns N' Roses band members, producers, and record label Interscope-Geffen have all been named in the suit.

Neither Guns N' Roses nor Interscope-Geffen have responded to the filing of the lawsuit. 2002 MTV Video Music Awards - Show
