Guns N' Roses Pirate Pleads Guilty to Infringement
Kevin Cogill, the man accused of illegally posting nine unreleased Guns N' Roses songs on the Web site called Antiquiet, plead guilty to one charge of copyright infringement, according to Craig Missakian, assistant U.S. Attorney.
The songs, from the upcoming and highly anticipated album, Chinese Democracy, was to be released on November 23. The FBI, the federal agency responsible for finding Cogill and the illegally uploaded songs, refused to disclose how the man got the songs before they were released, stating only that he had no known direct connection to the band.
At the time of his arrest in August in his Los Angeles home, authorities said that, if convicted, he faced up to three years in prison. Cogill was released on bail, and it seems has reached a plea deal with prosecutors, although Missakian refused to discuss the details about the deal.
