Gyllenhaal Receives a "Princely" Honor

Is Jake Gyllenhaal capable of time travel?

This is a question that viewers will get to answer as the actor assumes the role of the titular prince in the movie, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, a joint production by Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer that centers on the exploits of a prince manipulating time travel to save his kingdom.

Gyllenhaal will star in the film alongside Gemma Arterton, who will also appear in the upcoming Bond film, Quantum of Solace.

The film centers on the feats of a prince and his companion preventing their enemy from receiving the titular Sands of Time, a gift from the gods that will allow its user to influence time, allowing for world domination.

This film is taking its cues from the "Prince of Persia: Sands of Time" video game that was released in 2003. That game was a reimagining of the original "Prince of Persia" series started by Jordan Mechner in 1989.
