Pitcher Roy Halliday ptiched a one-hitter as the Toronto Blue Jays defeated the New York Yankees.
MLB.com reports that Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Roy Halliday has thrown a successful one-hitter in a 6-0 Blue Jays victory against the New York Yankees. Halliday had lost his three previous starts before pitching one of the best performances of his career.
According to the Associated Press, "Halliday is now 14-8, tying him with Kansas City's Zack Greinke for the major league lead, and the 46th of his career." The no-hitter was broken up by Yankee's shortstop Ramiro Pena in the sixth inning.
The Seattle Post Intelligencer states that Toronto's victory has broken the Yankee's seven-game winning streak, including the first game of this four-game series. The Yankees still, however, hold the best record in the majors.
