Hancock Stars to Return for Sequel

It's always a reassuring sign for a sequel when the actors from the original film are willing to reprise their roles. So it's a positive sign for "Hancock 2" that Will Smith, Charlize Theron, and Jason Bateman will be returning.

The first movie's director, Peter Berg, who is also set to return, made the announcement at the Toronto Film Festival. The script is still in the works, with two new writers penning it and Smith serving as the story consultant.

At the end of the last "Hancock," it was revealed that Theron and Smith were immortal gods. The sequel will have the two working together to defeat a common enemy. More details will be revealed about their 3,000 home world, from which will appear another superhero. The unnamed entity will be played by a big name actor, though Berg declined to state who.

The first "Hancock" (2008) made $628 million in the global box office.
