When country singer Hank Williams Jr. decided to compare President Obama playing golf with House Speaker John Boehner to Adolf Hitler playing with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Fox News, he probably did not expect it to blow up in his face.
It has, though, ultimately resulting in him being fired from ESPN’s Monday Night Football opening. Williams has issued a response to the firing, ripping both Fox and ESPN in a new song called “I’ll Keep My...” He also plans on making two television appearances this week.
In the song, Williams continues to defend his Freedom of Speech, saying the U.S. is “going down the drain” and urging listeners not to watch Fox News or ESPN, according to CBS News. He then claims that Fox twisted his comments, which were made on live television. “So Fox `n Friends wanna put me down/Ask for my opinion/Twist it all around,” he writes. “Well two can play that gotcha game you'll see."
In order to talk about the controversy, Williams will appear on The View on Tuesday, ABC News reports. Williams is also scheduled to appear on Sean Hannity’s Fox News show the same day. He was originally scheduled to appear on Hannity last week, but backed out, according to the Orlando Sentinel.
“I’ll Keep My...” is expected to be up on iTunes by later today or early Tuesday. The song was quickly completed Friday.
