Hannah Teter: The Greenest Olympian?
Olympic snowboarder Hannah Teter loves more than just the slopes. Teter is also a passionate nature lover and vegetarian.
Teter told People magazine: “When you surround yourself with nature, it's really powerful. Everything makes a difference.”
The mag reports Teter bought $200 worth of roses, lilies, and lilacs last week to freshen her bedroom.
Teter said she became a vegetarian last year and now feels “stronger mentally and physically, and springier.” Her daily routine begins with a power smoothie and her favorite dinner dish is stir-fry vegetables with Quinoa, a type of rice.
"I don't overcook, because you lose what's good in the food."
The next step is going from a green diet to a green lifestyle.
"I'm moving into a yurt in the woods near my parents' home in Vermont.”
A yurt is a portable type of tent.
“Mom has huge garden and fruit trees, and I love it there. I helped my parents get solar power this past year, and I'll be running on solar and hopefully wind power with my yurt so I can be completely off the grid."
