Teen sensation Justin Bieber, who turns 17 today, is one of those artists who we just did not see coming. The Canadian pop singer was actually discovered when his current manager, Scooter Braun, was taken back by young Bieber's talent after viewing his YouTube videos.
Braun later introduced Bieber to top-selling R&B singer Usher, and together, they helped Bieber land a recording contract with Island Records. In the year 2009, Bieber released the single "One Time," a track that had staying power on the top Canadian charts.
The single was followed up by the November 2009 album My World, a compilation which went certified platinum in the U.S. The album produced seven chart-topping songs on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, a first for any debut release.
He followed up with My World 2.0, which was also successful and debuted in the number one position in the U.S. and most parts of the world. It wasn't any surprise when the album went certified platinum. The first single, "Baby," not only gained popularity on the charts, but also earned Justin a place in the hearts of his young female fans.
Aside from a singing career, Bieber has also made a few cameos in television shows such as CSI and Nickelodeon's True Jackson VP. He also starred in his biopic Justin Bieber: Never Say Never, a blockbuster hit.
