People reports that Happy Days father, Tom Bosley, has passed away at the age of 83 in his Palm Springs, California home on Tuesday.
Bosley played Richie Cunningham’s father in ABC’s Happy Days, an iconic sitcom during the 70’s that was based on the 50’s time period.
After his days on the sitcom, he frequently guest-starred in Murder She Wrote on CBS.
Furthermore, the actor won a Tony for his work on the Pulitzer-Prize-winning 1959 musical , in which he played New York City Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia.
He is also known for his role in the 1964 Peter Sellers comedy The World of Henry Orient.
Bosley’s Happy Days co-star, Henry Winkler, says, "I'm in shock, I really am. I spoke to him just a few weeks ago and he seemed to be getting his strength back."
Bosley died of a staph infection.
