Harry Potter Review
Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince is the best Harry Potter movie yet; however, be wary if you've never seen or read anything in the Harry Potter series you might find it difficult to follow. I found it challenging to follow and I' seen all 5 prior movies. The film also wastes no time jumping into the action with no recap of where the last movie ended. This is great for avid Harry Potter fans who've been hosting movie marathons in countdown to "The Half-Blood Prince" premiere, but what about for the rest of us? I definitely recommend brushing up on where things stood at the end of the last movie before going to see it. For example, Harry shows up at the Weasley's before going to school. Ron, Ginny, and Hermione are all there with no explanation to how the three are related or why Harry is there. A Harry Potter rookie would have no idea what was going on.
As the series have progressed, there is less of a spectacle made of the scenery and powers the wizards possess. In the first film or two, much of what made the movie enjoyable was the landscape Hogwarts was set on and all the tricks the wizards could perform to get tasks done that us "muggles" spend needless time and energy on. If the audience wasn't already aware of Quidditch, Dead Eaters, or Hogsmeade they would be very confused. But it shows off the talent of the writers, actors, and director that the movie is strong enough to rely on the plot.
I cannot get over the prop and scenery crew for this movie. It continues to impress me. Each room has been decorated with such detail and agenda. If you go into the movie looking out for this is will blow you away.I would highly recommend seeing "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince". Although the three hour film is exhausting at times, there is a real familiarity in the characters that I haven't experienced in any of the other movies. Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson have blossomed in to fabulous actors who find truth in all the emotions their respectively characters feel. So clear your evening and go see "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince".
