Harvey Keitel may be the next 'Office' boss

As Carrell steps out, producers want Keitel to step in.

Rumors have been circulating for the past few months as to who will replace actor Steve Carrell on the popular TV show, The Office. It was only recently however, that the show’s producers decided give some insight as to which actors they have in mind. Actor Harvey Keitel is one of the forerunners.

E! Online reported Wednesday afternoon that Office executive producer Paul Lieberstein is thinking of Keitel and thinks the Oscar nominee would do a great job.

Lieberstein does not want to bring in another Michael Scott, the character currently played by Carrell. Instead, the producer said he thinks Keitel would bring a different energy to the show.

“He’s an old salesman who thought he could retire and the stock market went down, and he has to come out of retirement to work for a few more years,” Lieberstein told E! Online about his ideas for the new character.

Carrell has won critical acclaim for his portrayal of the naïve, selfish, hopelessly desperate-for-attention regional manager, Michael Scott. He has won multiple awards for his performance, but has confirmed the upcoming season of The Office is his last.
