Has "Family Guy" finally gone too far?
Fox puts its foot down when it comes to a confrontational "Family Guy" episode on abortion. On Wednesday, cast members of the show met at the Ricardo Montalbán Theatre in Hollywood for a table reading. The episode that has caused so much controversy revolves around Lois. She has agreed to be a surrogate mother to an old college friend, but, not long into the pregnancy, the couple dies in a car accident. Lois is left to decide whether or not she will continue on with the pregnancy or abort the baby. The episode looks as though it will end on a somber note as Lois speaks about abortion being a personal choice, when Peter jumps in stating that they have the abortion and the scene cuts to credits. According to the Washington Post, when asked if there are times when they may be toeing the line, Seth MacFarlane, the creator, replied, "We do try to be as careful as we can, but at the end of the day, sometimes you have to make a decision one way or another."
