Hasselhoff Given Psychiatric Evaluation

David Hasselhoff's trip to the hospital on Friday has brought his mental stability under scrutiny.

It seems that David Hasselhoff's medical worries go beyond just the physical.

Hasselhoff has been put under involuntary psychiatric hold in Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, RadarOnline learned exclusively.

As has been reported, the former television star was taken to the hospital on Friday after having a seizure at his home. Code 5150 of the California Welfare and Institution guide allows authorities to take people into custody that are thought to be a danger to themselves, are severely disabled, or are afflicted by a mental disorder. Doctors followed this code when deciding that Hasselhoff should be admitted and held for up to 72 hours in order to receive psychiatric evaluation.

Speculation that Hasselhoff was drinking heavily prior to the incident has now been confirmed. Although Hasselhoff and his reps frequently deny that he has issues with alcohol, RadarOnline reports otherwise. According to the website, Hasselhoff has been hospitalized five times for alcohol poisoning.

Those close to him would allegedly like to see him enter a lock-down rehab facility to deal with his alcoholism.
