Hathaway's Criminal Ex Faces Prison

Anne Hathaway's ex-boyfriend pleads guilty for an elaborate con that swindled millions from investors.

Anne Hathaway's con of an ex-boyfriend, Raffaello Follieri, 30, pled guilty on Wednesday as part of a plea deal to receive a reduced sentence on charges of wire fraud, conspiracy and money laundering, according to ABC News.

Hathaway's beau of four years swindled millions from investors and was dumped by Hathaway weeks before he was arrested.

If Follieri went to a trial to be judged by a jury of his peers, he faced up to nine years in prison. As part of his plea deal, Follieri will receive a considerably shorter sentence when he is sentenced Oct. 3.

Follieri will face up to five years and three months in prison without the ability to appeal as part of his plea deal. He has been in plea discussions with prosecutors for the past few weeks.

Follieri must also repay $2.4 million and forfeit 12 watches according to court documents. He must also surrender jewelry that likely belongs to Hathaway, including Rolexes, a gold and pearl necklace and a Louie Vuitton box.

Follieri's ruse came crashing down after he tried to swindle President Bill Clinton's billionaire friend, Ron Burkle, with a bogus real estate deal.

Follieri was arrested June 24. He has been held in federal custody since his arrest.
