HBO Renews "True Blood"
After two strong episodes of HBO's True Blood, the network has decided to renew the show for a second season.
Blood debuted on Sept. 7 to 1.4 million viewers, but the show has been extremely strong in repeat viewings, with high ratings coming in the reruns of the show.
The premium network said that True Blood grew 24 percent in its second episode.
"We're in a business where we have to believe in the show -- and the show is fantastic," said Michael Lombardo, the president of HBO's programming group and West Coast operations. "It gets better in every episode. The show deserves a second year whatever the ratings."
Lombardo then went on to issue a reassuring message to fans of the growing premium show.
"It says, 'It's OK to get hooked on the show, it's coming back.'"
