Health Care Campaign Screens "Sicko" For Free
On Monday evening the Western New York Health Care Campaign sponsored a free screening of Michael Moore's "Sicko" in Buffalo, N.Y. The campaign is a coalition of health advocates that has hosted many educational programs and lobbying campaigns in order to improve the quality and availability of health care in this country. Buffalo Business First reports, "According to the campaign, Moore has tapped into a deep well of public anger about health care with his new film, and public interest in the film demonstrates growing anxiety about the cost and coverage of care." Perhaps so; but the very fact that a free screening of a film currently in theaters would have to be organized might indicate that it isn't being distributed widely enough for people to hear its message. "Sicko" isn't even competing with movies like "Transformers" and "Ratatouille" in terms of box-office receipts, and it is already clear that it will not come near to equaling the performance of Moore's (vastly inferior) "Fahrenheit 9/11," despite all the hype before its release.
