Heath Ledger Case Closed
Although she was allegedly the first person notified of Heath Ledger's death, Mary-Kate Olsen has kept stubbornly quiet about her knowledge of the actor's situation. Federal agents struggling to determine the origins of the prescription painkillers on which Ledger overdosed were consistently unsuccessful in convincing Olsen to come forward with information. The New York Daily News reported that Olsen demanded immunity before she would agree to speak with the Drug Enforcement Agency. Agents told the media that they did not suspect Olsen of having given Ledger the drugs - they just thought she might know who had. According to the Daily News, prosecutors had been holding onto a subpoena for Olsen's testimony since April 23 in the hopes that she would come forward of her own will. Now the Associated Press has reported that the subpoena will never be served because the case has been closed since the U.S. attorney's office doesn't "believe there's a viable target." This is not the only gap in the mystery surrounding the star's death. E! News says that Mary Kate Olsen has never actually stated that she received the alleged phone call from Ledger's masseuse on January 22. Reports had indicated that the masseuse immediately telephoned Olsen, rather than the police, when she discovered the actor dead in his bed.
