Heath Ledger's Insurance Claim Finally Settled
Heath Ledger's daughter reaches settlement with insurance company
An out of court settlement has been reached between Heath Ledger's insurance company and a lawyer for his three-year-old daughter.
The suit was over Ledger's $10 million policy, yet ReliaStar Life Insurance Co. had delayed paying out the policy for almost a year to perform a further investigation.
Lawyers for the insurance company wanted to investigate whether Ledger's death was a suicide, which would have nullified the policy.
The attorney representing Matilda Rose Ledger, William Shernoff, originally filed the lawsuit in July 2008.
Ledger recently received a posthumous Oscar nomination for his role as the Joker in The Dark Knight.
