Heather Locklear's DUI Dismissed

The actress works out a deal with prosecutors.

Heather Locklear's DUI charge from Nov. 17 was dismissed in a Santa Barbara court on Friday after the actress pleaded no contest to a lesser charge, reports E! Online. In exchange for pleading no contest to reckless driving, the Melrose Place actress's DUI was dropped.

"Heather will have to pay a $700 fine, be on informal probation for three years and attend a 12-hour drug education program," explained Locklear's attorney, Blair Berk.

Locklear was arrested in September after being spotted driving erratically. The California state highway patrol ruled out alcohol as a factor, saying, "Although obvious impairment was exhibited during the tests, alcohol was ruled out as a factor." However, prescription drugs were found in Locklear's bloodstream. She was charged for driving under the influence of drugs in November.

Locklear did not appear in court, but was represented by her lawyer, Blair Berk. Berk has represented many celebrities, including Mel Gibson, Kiefer Sutherland, and, coincidentally, Richie Sambora, Locklear's ex.
