Heather Mills Gets $48.6 Million in Divorce from Paul McCartney
Judge Hugh Bennett said Tuesday that Heather Mills twisted the truth to fit her convenience and made excessive financial demands from former husband Paul McCartney. According the the Associated Press, the judge called Mills "explosive and volatile" and referred to her as a "less than impressive witness" due to her inconsistent and inaccurate testimony during the divorce trial.
Mills's attempt to block the testimony from the public was rejected by the judge. Mills portrayed her former Beatles husband as an abusive alcoholic and angrily accused him of making fun of her disability. Although it is true that she lost part of her leg when she was hit by a motorcycle, Mills's accusations of McCartney were consistently proven false.
McCartney was described as "accurate and honest" by Judge Bennett. Mills requested $250 million from McCartney for their brief four-year marriage, but was told she had unreasonable expectations of maintaining his lifestyle, even after she divorced the rock star. Instead, the judge awarded Mills $48.6 million.
