Heigl Staying with "Grey's Anatomy"
Katherine Heigl, who stars as Dr. Izzie Stevens, in ABC's popular medical drama, Grey's Anatomy, is sticking around for another season, according to AP. Heigl has made her voice known, particularly during last year's drama surrounding homophobic comments made by former costar Isaiah Washington. This year, the drama outside of the show continued as Heigl announced that she was withdrawing her name from consideration for an Emmy nomination. The actress blamed the show's writers for poor script quality, which apparently affected her ability to develop Izzie's character.
AP quotes ABC Entertainment President Stephen McPherson as saying, "She's absolutely staying with the show. There's an unbelievable story line for her this year, which is really central to everything that's going to go on this season. . . . It's unfortunate when there's any kind of turmoil on a show. . . . I think it's a beautifully written, beautifully acted, beautifully produced show."
Heigl won an Emmy Award last year for her role on the show.
