Hermes Sorry for Denying Oprah
If an average, non-celebrity shopaholic showed up at her favorite clothing store just 15 minutes after its closing time, not only would she be turned away, she would receive no explanation or apology for it. If you're Oprah Winfrey and you are turned away from your favorite store, for example, Hermes in Paris, you are at least given a public apology if not a ton of free clothes.
The upscale store put out a public apology for the incident that took place a week earlier in which Oprah arrived at Hermes for a private PR event but was told she could not enter. Although The New York Daily News first reported the incident as a case of racial profiling, a surveillance camera indicates that the talk show host was given a card and invited to come back.
"Hermes regrets not having been able to accommodate Ms. Winfrey and her team and to provide her with the service and care that Hermes strives to provide...," the apology stated. Hermes will sure regret their actions when Winfrey discusses the situation on her show as a "Crash" moment (in reference to the recently released movie that is racially charged). What will be more regrettable for Hermes is that the next time Oprah is strolling past the Paris store, she will probably think twice before entering and dropping the major dough that earned her Forbes Magazine's Most Powerful Celebrity.
