After an abrupt cancelation of The Colbert Report on Wednesday, fans can breathe easy knowing that the show will return on Monday.

Rumors surfaced shortly after the cancelation that the host, Stephen Colbert, was experiencing a family emergency. Reuters reports that friends close to Colbert said that he was in fact caring for his 91-year old mother.

After news broke of the temporary hiatus, Steve Albani, a spokesperson for the network, said “Due to unforeseen circumstances, the show will air repeat episodes on Wednesday, February 15 and Thursday, February 16."

The Associated Press notes that Colbert, the youngest of 11 children, has an “especially tight relationship with his mother.” Colbert lost his father and two of his brother in a tragic plane crash when he was 10 years old.

The show will air new episodes on Monday, February 20. The Colbert Report’s website states that new episodes will air all next week.

Colbert took to his Twitter account to thank fans for their continuing thoughts. He tweets, “My family and I would like to thank everyone who has offered their thoughts and prayers. We are grateful and touched by your concern.”
