High School Musical 2 Tops Album Charts

The Disney Channel movie's soundtrack is the no.1 album for the week.

High School Musical 2, the soundtrack to the TV movie of the same name, debuted at no. 1 on the Billboard album charts this week. The album sold 615,000 this week according to Nielsen SoundScan, making it the second-best debut this year, second only to Linkin Park's "Minutes to Midnight," which sold roughly 8,000 more copies.Dropping down from no. 1 is UGK's "Underground Kingz", which slipped to no. 6 after selling 60,000 copies in its second week.At no. 3 is Dave Mathews' collaboration with Tim Reynolds, "Live at Radio City Music Hall," which sold 70,000 copies. Other debuts on the latest chart include Blaqk Audio, a side project featuring members of AFI, entering at no. 18 and the Virginia band Mae's "Singularity" entering at no. 40.
