Hills Star to Author a Book Series
Lauren Conrad, reality television star of MTV's The Hills, will soon be calling herself an author, in addition to an actress and fashion designer. Conrad has signed a book deal with HarperCollins, according to the Associated Press.
The 22-year-old will write a series of books that will be loosely based around her life. The series, entitled "L.A. Candy," will chronicle a young woman's transition from teenager to stardom in Los Angeles. Three books have been negotiated for Conrad's series.
"I've always loved books that I could lose myself in, ones that would transport me to another place, but had characters I could relate to," Conrad said. "I'm so excited to have this opportunity to write books like that for other readers."
The first book will be released during the summer of 2009.
Conrad rose to fame with the series premiere of The Hills in May 2006, which chronicled her internship with Teen Vogue, as well as her personal life. Conrad also appeared in MTV's Laguna Beach reality television show. Conrad released a line of clothing, "The Lauren Conrad Collection," in March 2008.
