Hills Star Says Apology on Season Finale Was Staged
Stars of the MTV reality show, "The Hills," Heidi and Spencer Pratt, have had a media whirlwind over the past week. From pressing interviews on "The View" and the "Today" show, the inflammatory couple have taken a beating over their comments about fellow cast mates while on the reality show, "I'm a Celebrity . . . Get Me Out of Here," disparaging them as "B" list celebrities. Their comments following the "Today" show interview with Al Roker has generated a heavy buzz on the Internet, saying he doesn't know how to interview women and that he (Spencer) would have gotten physical with Roker if not for being saved.
Thursday, fellow "Hills" cast member Lauren Conrad appeared on "The View." When asked to comment on Spencer Pratt's apology for talking about a rumored sex tape made by Conrad, she revealed that the phone call and apology were staged. After a long pause following the question, Conrad said she wasn't on the other line while Pratt made that call, which appeared on the final episode of "The Hills." The apology was apparently intended to persuade Heidi's best friend to attend their wedding. As it turns out, the reality show told a white lie according to Conrad, who said she never received an apology from the controversial groom. Despite the animosity between them, Conrad did attend the wedding because she didn't want to look back on the situation and regret missing it, she said in the same interview, Thursday morning.
Conrad left "The Hills" after this year's fifth season and has written a book, "L.A. Candy," which is a novel inspired by her experience on the hit not-so-reality show. "There was this whole other story taking place off camera," said Conrad who wanted to tell that tale.
