Hilton's Hacker, Sentenced
The 17-year-old boy who hacked into Paris Hilton's Sidekick account and posted her A-list contacts online, has been sentenced to 11 months in a juvenile detention facility. The boy's identity is protected under federal law, but has apparently hacked more than Hilton's phone, according to the Washington Post. He pleaded guilty to nine counts of juvenile delinquency in front of a federal judge last week in Boston. The charges included hacking into Internet and telephone service providers, stealing personal information and posting it on the Web, and making bomb threats to high schools in Florida and Massachusetts over a 15-month span. After serving his time, the perpetrator will be on supervised release for two years, during which time he must stay away from any device that can connect to the Internet, including the use of computers. The bot recieved data from the LexisNexis Corporation, viewing person records of some 300,000 customers. He broke into T-Mobile's internal database and hijacked Hilton's phone numbers and text messages in January. Hundreds of the Hilton's contacts, including Avril Lavigne, Eminem and Lindsay Lohan, experienced prank phone calls after the contents of Hilton's Sidekick were published on the Internet. Hilton apologized for the events that occurred due to the hacking.
