Home Sweet Home: Chappelle's Comeback Shocks Many
Just as unexpectedly as he fled to South Africa to "recover," comedian Dave Chappelle gave audiences at two comedy clubs in Los Angeles a nice surprise when he crashed the venues on Wednesday night. His first stop was at the Improv in Hollywood where he got on stage at 10 p.m. and told the crowd he just arrived from the airport.
Although it has been quite a while since Chappelle has done what he does best, stand-up comedy, it all came back to him quite naturally. "He just kind of walked in real casual and said he wanted to get in and out because he was on his way to the Comedy Store," Improv's Adam Devine said.
At his next stop, 50 audience members were shocked when they got more than they bargained for, which was 80s comic Andrew Dice Clay. "Someone said [Chappelle] was here - that he'd just landed and wanted to do a set - and I called him a liar," said the Store's general manager, Dean Gelber. "Those people definitely got their $15 worth." Not only did the crowd get their money's worth, they got to be among the first to see the come-back of Dave Chappelle and that is priceless.
