Horton Is Highest Grossing International Seuss Movie Ever
Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who! is now internationally the highest-grossing Dr. Seuss movie ever.
Horton trumped the soft foreign box office for a third week in a row, making $10.6 million from 56 markets, bringing its overseas total to $104.9 million, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The film, featuring the voices of Steve Carell and Jim Carrey, recently passed Dr. Seuss' The Cat in the Hat ($32.8 million) and How the Grinch Stole Christmas ($85 million).
Following Horton over the weekend overseas was 21, starring Kevin Spacey. In just six markets, 21 earned $8.1 million, but topped five of those markets, including the U.K. ($3.2 million) and Germany ($2.2 million). The gambling drama will open in 13 markets this upcoming weekend, including Italy, Brazil and Russia.
Wrapping up the top five was French comedy Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis in third, Step Up 2 the Streets in fourth place and The Spiderwick Chronicles rounding out the top five.
