Horton Makes Millions
According to The Associated Press, "Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who!" premiered in theatres nationwide this weekend and raked in a whopping $45.1 million in box office sales.
The 20th Century Fox family film features the voices of Jim Carrey and Steve Carell and is an adaptation of the famous children's story of an elephant that helps save a tiny community from being destroyed.
"Horton" is the film that has made the most money in box office sales during opening weekend so far this year. "Cloverfield" which opened in January, was the year's No. 1 debut before "Horton" making an estimated $40.1 million in opening sales.
Last weekend's No. 1 movie was the prehistoric film "10,000 B.C." which slipped to second place after "Horton" made its debut.
Blue Sky Studios is responsible for the computer animated "Horton" film. The two "Ice Age" movies and the film "Robots" were made by Blue Sky Studios as well.
